Darius Clark Monroe is an award‐winning filmmaker and MFA graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. He’s a National Board of Review recipient and UrbanWorld Best Screenplay award recipient. His films have aired on HBO and Independent Lens. Most recently, he was selected to the prestigious Screenwriters Colony, and chosen as a fellow at the Sundance Institute Screenwriters Intensive.
Monroe’s feature 2014 debut, Evolution of a Criminal had its World Premiered at SXSW, won the Audience and Jury Awards at Full Frame and aired on Independent Lens in January 2015. Monroe has received fellowships and grant support from Austin Film Society, Tribeca Film Institute, Charles and Lucille King Fellowship, Spike Lee Fellowship, Warner Bros, Cinereach, IFP, IDFA, DCTV, and the Rooftop Filmmakers’ Fund. He was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film” and “10 Filmmakers to Watch” from The Independent.
